Azerbaijani judokas win four medals on final day of European Cup

The Graz Junior European Cup 2026 in Austria has concluded, with the Azerbaijani national team securing four medals on the final day of competition, Report informs.

According to the Azerbaijan Judo Federation, Suleyman Shukurov (90 kg) defeated all his opponents to claim the gold medal. On his way to the final, he overcame representatives from Romania, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Hungary, and Germany. In the decisive match, Shukurov beat Brazilian athlete Joao Pedro Canelho with a yuko score to become champion.

Meanwhile, Roman Garayev (81 kg), Aslan Kotsoyev (90 kg), and Ramazan Ahmadov (+100 kg) each earned bronze medals.

On the first day of the tournament, Mahammad Musayev (66 kg) had already won a gold medal.

In total, Azerbaijan finished the European Cup with 2 gold and 3 bronze medals, ranking second among boys" teams out of 34 countries and third overall in the medal standings.
