Azerbaijani female wrestlers begin competition at World Championships in Baku

The U17 Wrestling World Championships in Baku continue today with matches featuring four Azerbaijani female wrestlers.

According to Report, the following bouts are scheduled:

Round of 16

- 43 kg: Valia Georgiana Harsan (Romania) vs. Vafa Orujova;

- 49 kg: Nazrin Ahmadli vs. Madina Bayramova (Germany).

Qualification Round

- 57 kg: Garatel Guliyeva vs. Delia Gisler (Switzerland);

- 65 kg: Rana Nuriyeva vs. Sylvia Belinda Espinosa Muniz (Mexico).

Hosted at the National Gymnastics Arena in Baku, the U17 Wrestling World Championships, running from July 27 through August 2, bring together close to 700 competitors from over 60 nations, with Azerbaijan fielding 29 athletes.

Azerbaijani wrestlers have so far won three medals in the tournament. Isfahan Hasanov (80 kg) claimed silver, while Omar Salmanov (48 kg) and Orkhan Habibli (65 kg) each secured bronze.
