Levon Mnatsakanyan's testimonies given during preliminary investigation of criminal case announced

During the preliminary investigation of the criminal case at the Baku Military Court on September 1, the testimonies given by the accused Levon Mnatsakanyan were announced, Report informs.

In his testimony to the preliminary investigation, Mnatsakanyan stated that in September 1992, he began military service as a deputy battalion commander in the "army" of the self-proclaimed regime.

Mnatsakanyan was appointed to various positions, then from May 2007 to November 2012, he served as the chief of staff of the self-proclaimed regime's "defense army", and from November 2012 to June 2015, he served as the deputy chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia.

From December 14, 2018, to May-June 2019, he was the "Director of the Rescue Department" in Khankandi city, and from May-June 2019 to June 2020, he was the "police chief". After retirement, he did not work anywhere.

During his service as the commander of the "defense army" of the self-proclaimed entity, the financing, arming, and other such matters of the "army" were carried out by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Armenia using funds from the Armenian budget.

Since September 1992, when he began military service as an officer in the "defense army" of the self-proclaimed entity, he participated in battles during the first Karabakh war in the directions of Kalbajar, Fuzuli, Aghdara, Aghdam, and Jabrayil districts.

The trial continues for Armenian citizens accused of crimes against peace and humanity, including war crimes, acts of terrorism, the preparation and execution of aggressive war, genocide, violations of war laws and rules, forcible seizure and retention of power, as well as financing terrorism, among other offenses stemming from Armenia's military aggression.
