Franco Colapinto: Baku track one of most beautiful of season

Argentine Alpine driver Franco Colapinto, who made his Formula 1 debut last year, said he expects to score points at the upcoming Azerbaijan Grand Prix, which will be held in Baku from September 19-21, Report informs. 

Colapinto noted on Instagram that he scored his first points in the "royal race" last year on the Baku track.  

"It's been a year since my first Q3 (the third and final qualifying segment in Formula 1, which determines the top ten positions on the starting grid - ed.) and my first points.

This is a truly special memory of my second Formula 1 race! This weekend we return to Baku for more," he wrote.  

The young driver shared his expectations for the race in the capital of Azerbaijan in an interview with the Argentine newspaper Río Negro.

"I'm delighted to be back in Baku, where I scored my first points in Formula 1 last year. The Baku track is one of the most beautiful of the season, especially the narrow section in the Old City. This weekend, it's important to take full advantage of the opportunities that will inevitably arise on such a challenging track. We need to achieve maximum results and start the overseas portion of the season with a positive result for the team," he added.  

Franco Colapinto is currently ranked 20th in the 2025 championship. He has yet to score a point this season.
