Uzbek President Mirziyoyev proposes developing SCO Plus as platform for interregional dialogue

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has proposed developing the SCO Plus format as a platform for interregional dialogue, Report's Bishkek correspondent informs, citing remarks by the Uzbek president at the top-level meeting in the SCO Plus format.

According to Mirziyoyev, this format is acquiring a particularly profound meaning that extends beyond a mere expanded session of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

"This platform is capable of uniting states, regions, and organizations around a common agenda. Here, dialogue can and should be conducted to align various initiatives and build a global governance architecture," he stated.

The president of Uzbekistan noted that the UN is called upon to maintain its central coordinating role, while regional structures should complement its efforts. According to him, the new world order must promote fair solutions to regional issues.

Mirziyoyev also stated that Uzbekistan remains committed to developing open, mutually beneficial cooperation across the Eurasian space.

"For us, connectivity is a matter of strategic independence and resilience. We advocate for a multipolarity that does not create new dividing lines, but expands the space of opportunities where regional projects and initiatives do not compete with one another, but effectively complement each other," he emphasized.

Mirziyoyev proposed that meeting participants focus on areas such as sustainable growth, high-technology adoption, climate adaptation, human capital development, accessible education, and youth support.

In addition, he noted the need to exchange experience more broadly, align approaches, and jointly advance solutions within the UN framework.

The president of Uzbekistan added that SCO Plus may serve as a platform for establishing a partner network of regional organizations.
