UN-Habitat: Urbanization consumes nature, threatens food security

Currently, urbanization is beginning to consume nature, Anacláudia Rossbach, Executive Director of UN-Habitat, stated during the session held at the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku, Report informs.

Rossbach highlighted that urbanization is destroying the environment and agricultural potential: "This threatens our food security and our life on Earth. Many of the climate events we see today are the result of unplanned urbanization. Urbanization that ignores the needs of people and nature has brought us to this point. Therefore, we must look at existing opportunities and problems, correct them, and also plan for the future. Proper planning of land - a limited resource - is of vital importance."
