Shehbaz Sharif: Pakistan, Azerbaijan committed to stronger cooperation

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has held a phone conversation with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

The prime minister said he was pleased to speak with President Ilham Aliyev, whom he described as his dear brother.

Sharif said the sides reaffirmed the deep fraternal bonds between Pakistan and Azerbaijan and their shared commitment to further strengthening cooperation in trade, investment, energy and people-to-people ties.

The Pakistani prime minister said he conveyed his best wishes for the successful convening of the World Urban Forum in Baku next week and expressed confidence that, under President Ilham Aliyev's leadership, the forum will make a meaningful contribution to advancing the global urban development agenda.

The prime minister added that he assured President Ilham Aliyev that Pakistan will be well represented at the forum.

Sharif said the sides also exchanged views on regional developments, particularly ongoing peace efforts in the Middle East. He added that he deeply appreciated President Ilham Aliyev's kind words regarding Pakistan's sincere efforts to advance peace, dialogue and diplomacy in the region.
