The development of relations between Azerbaijan and Africa largely depends on the youth, the Rector of Baku State University (BSU) Elchin Babayev told a conference dedicated to Africa Day 2026: "Rising Continent, Emerging Partnerships," Report informs.
According to him, students from Kenya, Egypt, Gambia, Zambia, Chad, Cameroon, Tanzania, the Comoros Islands, and a number of other African countries are currently studying at Baku State University.
"They are studying within the framework of international scholarship programs, including the Heydar Aliyev International Education Grant Program," Babayev noted.
The rector emphasized that African students are not only learners but also cultural ambassadors who enrich the academic community with their perspectives, traditions, and experiences.
"They are distinguished by high academic achievements in their studies, consistently demonstrating excellent results in educational and scientific activities. I closely follow their academic progress and take great pride in their achievements. They are the best international students at our university," he stated.
Babayev also noted that African students actively participate in international discussions held in Azerbaijan, including initiatives dedicated to the role of youth in shaping a more just and sustainable world order.
"Their participation reminds us that universities are not merely educational institutions. They are spaces where future leaders, diplomats, researchers, and innovators are shaped," the rector emphasized.
