MFA: Games held in occupied territories of Azerbaijan are a parody of football

"The games held in Azerbaijan's occupied territories, not recognized by any of the official football associations and uniting illegitimate organizations, are nothing more than a parody of football," spokesperson for the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry Leyla Abdullayeva said answering a question regarding the holding by the Confederation of Independent Football Associations (ConIFA) of a football match in the occupied Nagorno-Karabakh region of Azerbaijan on June 1.

"I don’t want to attach importance to this issue and talk a lot about it, thus encounraging it. As you know, the Azerbaijani community of the Nagorno-Karabakh region of our country protested about this. The name of Lapland, one of the participants of these games, reminds me of a fairy tale about the “snowy country.” In fact, Armenian psychology is based on fairy tales and legends, and they believe in it,” said Abdullayeva.
