Kenya supports the initiatives presented within the framework of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku and calls for a shift toward practical action in the field of sustainable urban development, Executive Director in the Office of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kenya said during a ministerial meeting of African countries on the sidelines of WUF13.
"Kenya supports the main theme of WUF13 - ‘Housing the World', as well as the concept of safe and sustainable cities and communities," she said.
The Kenyan representative also expressed gratitude to Azerbaijan for hosting the forum and for organizing the African ministerial meeting.
"Kenya highly appreciates the holding of this important meeting dedicated to the implementation of the outcomes of the Second African Urban Forum, namely the Nairobi Declaration," she noted.
According to her, the Nairobi Declaration should serve as a basis for the practical implementation of policies for sustainable and inclusive urban development on the African continent.
"In addition, Kenya supports the holding of this meeting, which aims to move from declarations to the practical implementation of sustainable urban development in Africa," she emphasized.
She stated the need to strengthen climate action and expand investment in sustainable urban infrastructure.
"Therefore, we underline the urgent need to increase investment in sustainable urban infrastructure, nature-based solutions, sustainable housing, green transport systems, and disaster risk reduction," she said.
