India plans to present sustainable urban development strategy at WUF13

India intends to use the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku to promote its own experience in sustainable urban development, infrastructure, and housing, as well as to expand international cooperation, Sanjay Kulshrestha, Managing Director of the Indian company Housing and Urban Development Corporation Ltd., told Report at WUF13 in Baku.
He stated that India views the forum as an opportunity to showcase its approaches to developing urban infrastructure and sustainable cities.
"India is home to approximately 1.4 billion people. It is one of the most populous countries in the world. Because India is a very diverse country, we have many examples and lessons on how we are developing and moving towards developed status by 2047," he noted.
Sanjay Kulshrestha emphasized that India is developing various housing models, financial instruments, and implementing technologies to reduce housing costs and improve quality of life.
He added that the Indian side is implementing a comprehensive approach to urban infrastructure development.
"We want to share the Indian government's measures and efforts aimed at ensuring sustainable development worldwide. The main goal is to present our infrastructure, housing, and the solutions we are creating domestically," he said.
Kulshrestha also reported that as part of the forum, the Indian delegation is holding meetings with the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, and UN-Habitat.
"Yes, we are working on a number of agreements and holding numerous meetings, including with the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank," he noted.
He noted that these are trilateral agreements involving multilateral banks.
Speaking about his expectations for the forum, he emphasized the importance of international exchange of experience.
Sanjay Kulshrestha also emphasized the important role of youth and educational institutions in India's urban development strategy.
