COP30 Executive Director Ana Toni has expressed high expectations for Baku Climate Action Week, saying she believes participating countries will move closer to solutions to global climate challenges at COP31, Report informs.
Toni, who also serves as Brazil's National Secretary for Climate Change at the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, made the remarks at an event on "Energy Transition, Climate Finance and Industrial Decarbonization" held as part of the Fourth Climate Week in Baku.
She said countries are ready to demonstrate solidarity and expressed confidence that discussions at COP31 would be clear and focused on finding solutions.
"We are ready to show our solidarity. I am confident that at COP31, the issues will also be discussed clearly and we will move closer to solutions. At COP30, around 56 decisions were adopted together with nearly 194 countries. I am confident that we will see the same determination at COP31," Toni said.
She also highlighted the importance of conducting solution-oriented negotiations.
"We live in a rapidly changing world. What happened in Nepal is a clear example of this. But it is in our hands to make a difference. In this regard, my expectations from Baku Climate Week are high," she said.
