Bangladeshi expert: CICA countries should strengthen co-op instead of yielding to tariff wars

The member countries of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) can strengthen regional economic cooperation by promoting corridors and fair trade mechanisms instead of yielding to tariff wars, Major General Iftekhar Anis, Director General of Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies (BIISS), said at the 13th Meeting of CICA Think Tank Forum, Report informs.

During last year's forum in Shanghai, CICA countries unanimously agreed on expanding trade relations between the member states and promoting trade at both macroeconomic and microeconomic levels, according to Iftekhar Anis.

He also noted that CICA members can turn disputed areas into opportunities for cooperation through shared infrastructure, exchanges between peoples, and joint innovation centers instead of becoming competitive arenas.
