Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry condemns release of Armenian terrorist Hampig Sassounian

The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry condemns the decision of the US authorities to release from imprisonment the Armenian terrorist, member of the Armenian Secret Army for the Liberation of Armenia (ASALA) Hampig Sassounian, who killed the Turkish consul Kemal Arıkan in 1982 in Los Angeles, the spokesperson of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry Leyla Abdullayeva told Report.

"Sassounian's statement, when he was still in prison, in an interview with the Armenian military magazine Hay Zinvor in 2012 that he was an Armenian soldier and was ready to fight in Karabakh, on the territory of Azerbaijan, which was still under occupation at that time, demonstrates that this terrorist has not corrected himself at all. It is necessary to prevent attempts to glorify in one form or another the terrorist who is in Armenia, according to the Armenian media," said Abdullayeva.
