Azerbaijani, Canadian FMs discuss bilateral ties, regional issues

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has held a telephone conversation with his Canadian counterpart Anita Anand, Report informs, citing Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry.

During the phone call, the ministers exchanged views on the current state and prospects for the development of Azerbaijan-Canada relations, as well as regional issues of mutual interest.

Anand conveyed her congratulations on the 108th anniversary of Azerbaijan's independence and emphasized Canada's interest in further developing relations with Azerbaijan.

Bayramov thanked her for the congratulations and noted the existing potential for expanding political dialogue and cooperation between the two countries in various fields.

During the phone call, the sides emphasized the importance of considering opportunities to develop cooperation in green transition, renewable energy, information and communication technologies (ICT), energy security and other areas of mutual interest.

They also discussed the current situation in the region, post-conflict realities, and the Azerbaijan-Armenia normalization and peace process. Bayramov briefed his counterpart on the history of the former conflict, the occupation Azerbaijan faced and its consequences, as well as efforts currently being made to ensure lasting peace and stability in the region.

The sides also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
