Azerbaijan's Independence Day and Armed Forces Day celebrated in Astana

A ceremonial event dedicated to Azerbaijan's Independence Day and Armed Forces Day was held in Astana.

According to Report's Kazakhstan Bureau, the event was organized by the Azerbaijani Embassy in Kazakhstan.

Speaking at the event, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Kazakhstan Aghalar Atamoglanov noted that on May 28, 1918, the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic (ADR) was proclaimed as the first democratic republic in the East.

According to him, although the ADR existed for only 23 months, it became an important chapter in the history of the Azerbaijani people, and the modern Republic of Azerbaijan is its legal successor.

The diplomat emphasized that after restoring its independence in the early 1990s, Azerbaijan faced serious challenges. He highlighted the special role of National Leader Heydar Aliyev in protecting and strengthening the country's independence.

Atamoglanov stated that this political course is being successfully continued today by President Ilham Aliyev. According to the ambassador, Azerbaijan is a guarantor of peace and security in the region and one of the key participants in global energy and transport projects.
