Azerbaijan's COP29 made important contribution to climate diplomacy, Fatma Varank says

The COP29 hosted by Azerbaijan made an important contribution to climate diplomacy, Director of COP31 and Deputy Minister of Environment, Urban Planning and Climate Change of Türkiye Fatma Varank stated at the opening of Climate Week 4 in Baku, Report informs.

She noted that the climate crisis recognizes no borders and that countries must demonstrate the will to overcome it.

"We intend to advance this at COP31. I highly appreciate the contribution of the COP29 presidency to climate diplomacy-for building consensus on the finance goal, advancing the roadmap from Baku to Belém, and finalizing the Article 6 carbon market rules under the Paris Agreement. These achievements will create a solid foundation for our work on the road to Antalya," Varank said.
