The prosecutor's offices of Azerbaijan and Mongolia will exchange information in the field of detecting, tracing, and confiscating assets obtained through crime, Mongolia's Prosecutor General Jargalsaikhan Banzragch told journalists during his visit to Azerbaijan, Report informs.
He noted that although Mongolia and Azerbaijan are geographically distant, the two nations share many commonalities in terms of historical traditions, culture, and national values: "During COP29 held in Baku in 2024, our presidents met and agreed to expand bilateral cooperation. This opened a new chapter in Mongolia–Azerbaijan relations."
Banzragch emphasized that the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation, signed during his visit at the invitation of Azerbaijan's Prosecutor General, elevates cooperation between the two countries' prosecutor's offices to a qualitatively new level: "This document creates broad opportunities for preventing and combating crime, eliminating damage caused by crimes, and expanding mutual exchange of experience. In addition, our prosecutor's offices will exchange information in the field of detecting, tracing, and confiscating assets obtained through crime."
He added that, given the similarities in mechanisms for protecting public interests within the legal systems of both states, developing cooperation in experience sharing and improving legislation in this area is considered highly effective.
