Rosatom begins returning Russian specialists to Iran's Bushehr NPP

Russian state corporation Rosatom has begun returning Russian specialists to the Bushehr nuclear power plant in Iran, Report informs via Russian media.

Rosatom Director General Alexey Likhachev announced this to journalists.

"We have begun returning specialists to the construction site of the Bushehr NPP. The first five engineering and technical personnel have already arrived at our residential settlement and started performing their duties," he said.

According to Likhachev, the next group of several dozen employees is expected to be sent within the next two weeks, provided there is no further escalation of the conflict between the US and Iran.

"If everything goes well, we will increase the number of our personnel on the project to 100 people this autumn. Of course, our plans are to return all specialists previously evacuated from the Islamic Republic as soon as possible. But a return to pre-war levels will be possible only after final agreements are reached between the US and Iran on ending hostilities," he said.

As a result, the total number of Russian specialists at the Bushehr NPP has reached 25.

Likhachev noted that construction of the main and auxiliary buildings of power units No. 2 and No. 3 is continuing at the site, while preparatory work is also underway on hydraulic engineering facilities.
