Azerbaijan and Georgia possess significant potential for the further development of cooperation, particularly in the energy sector, Nika Chitadze, Professor at the International Black Sea University and international relations expert, told journalists in Baku.
According to Report, he congratulated Azerbaijan on the restoration of its territorial integrity and emphasized the importance of the principles of international law.
"I would like to congratulate Azerbaijan and the Azerbaijani people on the restoration of territorial integrity and, accordingly, the principles of international law-the principles of the inviolability of borders and the territorial integrity of the state," he said.
According to him, the restoration of territorial integrity will contribute to strengthening Azerbaijan's statehood and its position on the international stage.
The expert also highlighted the importance of the support that Azerbaijan provides to Georgia, particularly in the energy field.
"Georgia and the Georgian people are grateful to Azerbaijan for the support that Azerbaijan has provided and will continue to provide to Georgia," he noted.
Chitadze stressed that major international energy projects involving Azerbaijan pass through the territory of Georgia.
According to him, Azerbaijan is one of the main suppliers of natural gas and oil to Georgia's energy markets.
He also noted the prospects for exporting Azerbaijani electricity to Europe through Georgia via the planned subsea cable along the bottom of the Black Sea.
"The most important thing here is not only the political relations between Georgia and Azerbaijan, but also the brotherly, centuries-old relations between the Azerbaijani and Georgian peoples," the expert said.
Speaking about prospects for future cooperation, Chitadze specifically highlighted key energy projects, including the Southern Gas Corridor, TANAP, TAP, and the Baku–Tbilisi–Ceyhan oil pipeline. According to him, Azerbaijan acts as the supplier and exporter of energy resources in these projects, while Georgia plays and will continue to play a vital role as a transit country.
