Pakistan is looking forward to building closer ties with key participants at WUF13 in Baku, Anwar Hussain, Chief Executive at Local Councils Association of the Punjab in Pakistan, told Report.
According to him, the Pakistani delegation's primary focus is affordable and sustainable housing: "We expect to learn more about affordable housing, particularly best practices and widely used approaches to sustainable housing construction, as well as the potential for their implementation in our country. This is our primary expectation. Furthermore, we hope to establish strong contacts with key stakeholders involved in the sustainable housing sector."
Hussain also emphasized the importance of a potential political and technical dialogue with the Azerbaijani side within the forum: "It would be useful to hold a political dialogue with the Azerbaijani government, as we see that the city is undertaking significant work in urban development, particularly in the housing sector. In the future, we hope to collaborate more closely with the Baku municipalities to learn technical skills and understand how to transform our informal development areas, particularly in Karachi."
He noted that the Pakistani delegation consists of approximately 23 city mayors, district council chairmen, and members of parliament, who are participating in the forum to exchange experiences and study international practices in urban planning.
The delegation representative also shared his impressions of the capital of Azerbaijan: "Baku is a wonderful city. The people are very friendly, and everyone is willing to help. The level of hospitality is very high. We like Baku."
