African expert calls WUF13 platform for shaping future of urbanism

The World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku has become a platform for discussing issues of urbanization, inequality, and housing shortages, particularly in countries of the Global South, Muthoni Brian Ngiki, a representative of the African Climate Bureau, told journalists on the sidelines of WUF13, Report informs.

He stated that the forum provides an opportunity to discuss issues of providing affordable and decent housing to people suffering from the consequences of colonialism, social inequality, and housing shortages.

"WUF13 is a platform for discussing how to provide affordable and decent housing, particularly in countries of the Global South," he noted.

Ngiki emphasized that the housing problem is global in nature and affects not only developing countries.

"From this perspective, countries of the Global North can also benefit from the sessions and discussions taking place here," he stated.

He believes the discussions taking place at the forum have the potential to influence the future of global urban policy.

"We will see these discussions shape our future, and overall, I believe they will lead to very positive, effective, and successful results," added Muthoni Brian Ngiki.
