Report informs citing the El Mundo, according to the new paragraph, Messi will be able to leave the club as a free agent without paying compensation. The Argentinian will get such an opportunity if Catalonia separates from Spain, and Barcelona will not compete in one of the leading European championships - England, Germany, Italy, France or Spain.

Notably, Messi extended contract with Barcelona in November 2017. The agreement is valid until the end of 2020/21 season. The amount of compensation is 700 million EUR.
