British Standard Chartered Bank is interested in projects in Azerbaijan's transport, renewable energy and mining sectors, the bank's Executive Director for Development and Agency Finance Desislava Radeva said at the Second Azerbaijan International Investment Forum (AIIF 2026) in Baku, Report informs.
"Azerbaijan has extensive experience and a very strong foundation, particularly in the energy sector. Building on this experience and existing ties, the country can develop other investment areas, such as transport, renewable energy and mining projects," she said.
Radeva noted that Central Asia and the Caucasus are relatively new markets for Standard Chartered, which began paying strategic attention to the region about five years ago, initially focusing on Uzbekistan.
"Over five years, both our internal confidence and our ability to attract external expertise have grown. We work across various sectors and see investor interest in this market, as well as the availability of projects that can secure financing," she said.
According to Radeva, the bank has maintained contacts with various stakeholders in recent months and held a number of talks this week.
"We see concrete opportunities to expand our ties here and hope to demonstrate our capabilities in this area over time," she added.
