EBRD plans to invest €1.3B in Kazakhstan in 2026

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD)'s investment in Kazakhstan projects may reach a record €1.3 billion in 2026, said the bank's president, Odile Renaud-Basso, Report informs.
According to the press service of the Kazakh government, Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov met with Renaud-Basso in Astana during the 38th plenary session of the Foreign Investors' Council under the President of Kazakhstan.
"The parties discussed expanding investment cooperation in the construction and modernization of social, transport, industrial, and engineering infrastructure, digitalization, artificial intelligence, the financial sector, and business support," reads the statement.
Bektenov noted the EBRD's significant role in improving the investment climate and sustainable economic development in Kazakhstan. Over the years of cooperation, the bank's portfolio in the country has reached 354 projects totaling $12.7 billion. These projects are being implemented in the fields of small and medium-sized businesses, finance, housing and utilities, energy, agriculture, and information technology.
Renaud-Basso added that the EBRD's investment in Kazakhstan's economy could reach historic levels in 2026.
According to her, since the beginning of this year, the bank has already financed projects in Kazakhstan totaling over €800 million, and by the end of the year, investment inflows may exceed €1.3 billion.
Following the meeting, the parties confirmed their commitment to further expand cooperation and implement new joint projects.
