Artificial intelligence increases the efficiency of public audit, Deputy Chairman of Azerbaijan's Chamber of Accounts Nasir Sadigov said.
Report informs that he made the remarks at an event titled "Digital Public Audit for Sustainable Regional Integration," organized by the Chamber as part of the 51st Annual Meetings of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group.
According to him, digital transformation is no longer merely a process of technological innovation, but also a strategic change that affects public administration, public services and the formation of accountability mechanisms.
"Currently, the digital economy accounts for 17.3% of global GDP, while global technology spending reached $5.2 trillion in 2025, equivalent to about 4.4% of global GDP. The rapid development of artificial intelligence, big data analytics, cloud technologies and other innovative solutions enables public institutions to operate in a more flexible and results-oriented manner," Sadigov said.
He noted that these changes have also had a direct impact on the activities of Supreme Audit Institutions.
"As institutions responsible for overseeing the efficient, economical and targeted use of public funds, Supreme Audit Institutions are facing new tasks," he said.
Sadigov said digital transformation gives the audit sector advantages such as real-time data processing, more accurate risk identification, analysis of large databases and more efficient use of audit resources.
"It creates conditions for presenting audit results to the public in a more transparent and accessible form, which helps strengthen trust in public administration," he said.
At the same time, Sadigov noted that digitalization also brings challenges, including increased cybersecurity risks, issues related to the quality and reliability of data, the development of digital skills, and the need to define the ethical and legal framework for the use of artificial intelligence.
