Through the joint efforts of Central Asian countries, the region could become one of the fastest-growing regions in the world in terms of clean energy and attracting capital investment.
Report informs that Uzbek Energy Minister Jurabek Mirzamahmudov said this during the 31st Baku Energy Forum.
"Our region has enormous renewable energy resources and hydropower potential, as well as a favorable geographical location that provides access to the largest energy markets. If we combine these advantages with deeper regional cooperation, we can turn Central Asia into one of the most dynamically developing regions on the planet in the field of environmentally clean energy and investment," the minister said.
Mirzamahmudov stressed that Uzbekistan is actively preparing for new energy realities.
"In recent years, we have managed to attract more than $35 billion in investment in the energy sector alone, commission more than 16 GW of new generation capacity and increase annual electricity production from 60 billion kWh to 85 billion kWh. Today, renewable energy sources are becoming one of the main driving forces of our energy transition," Mirzamahmudov said.
