SLB ready to strengthen Azerbaijan's position as a leading energy exporter

The American company SLB intends to help strengthen Azerbaijan's position as one of the leading regional energy exporters in the long term, SLB Executive Vice President of Geographies Steve Gassen said at the 31st Baku Energy Forum.

According to Report, he noted that the company played a key role in the development of one of Azerbaijan"s largest energy projects - the Shahdeniz field.

"SLB has supplied and continues to supply all subsea infrastructure that enabled the development of Shah Deniz - both in the early stages of the project and throughout all subsequent phases of its development," Gassen said.

Speaking about prospects for further cooperation with Azerbaijan, he particularly highlighted joint work with SOCAR on the redevelopment project of the Bahar field.

According to the Executive Vice President, despite the maturity of the field and the accumulated operational challenges over the years, the project has significant potential.

"We are considering the redevelopment of the Bahar field together with SOCAR. Despite the maturity of the field and historically accumulated difficulties, a more detailed analysis of approaches to its redevelopment demonstrates significant potential. We are applying the latest digital technologies and AI-based subsurface workflows to create fundamentally new reservoir drainage concepts and a fully integrated field development concept. This is a rather unique approach which, we hope, will advance the project to the stage of a final investment decision," Steve Gassen emphasized.
