Nakhchivan may meet all electricity needs from green sources

Nakhchivan will eventually receive all the electricity it needs from green sources, while surplus electricity generated in the region is planned to be supplied to other parts of Azerbaijan or exported, Deputy Minister of Energy Elnur Soltanov told journalists at the Second Azerbaijan International Investment Forum (AIIF 2026) in Baku, Report informs.

"The day is not far when all electricity in Nakhchivan will come from green sources," he said.

According to the deputy minister, following the territories liberated from occupation, Nakhchivan will become the country's second region to be fully supplied with such electricity.

Soltanov emphasized the prospects for transmitting or exporting surplus electricity. According to him, this issue may be included in the agenda of meetings with investors in green energy corridor projects.
