Bulgaria has acquired 20% in the LNG regasification terminal project in the Greek city of Alexandroupolis, Report informs, citing the terminal operator Bulgartransgaz.
The deal is of strategic importance for the diversification and security of energy supplies in Bulgaria and the region.
Sergei Pikin, director of the Russian Energy Development Fund, said Bulgaria's decision would not radically change relations with Russia.
"Bulgaria is interested in cooperation with Russia, but they are just looking for gas at a lower price. But in general, they do not give us up," Pikin noted.
He added that future collaboration in this area would depend on pricing policy.
