Azerbaijani company invited to participate in infrastructure project in Pakistan

The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) has been invited as a potential shareholder to implement the White Oil Machike-Thallian-Tarujabba oil pipeline project in Pakistan, Report informs referring to Pakistan's Mettis Global News.

It was previously noted that on February 24, as part of the official visit of Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to Azerbaijan, an exchange of documents previously signed between the two countries on expanding bilateral cooperation, including in the oil sector, took place.

The Memorandum of Understanding signed by SOCAR with the Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) and Pakistan State Oil Company Limited (PSO) provides for cooperation in the White Oil Machike-Thallian-Tarujabba oil pipeline project.

This oil pipeline will connect the Pakistani port of Qasim with the Pak-Arab oil refinery in Qasba Gujrat (Multan district, Punjab, Pakistan).

Mettis Global News notes that the memorandum invites the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan as a potential shareholder in the project, which aims to connect Pakistan's northern regions with the rest of the country's pipeline infrastructure.

PSO and SOCAR signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Baku to establish a Joint Trading Company (JTC) in Singapore, aiming to secure Pakistan's energy supply chain while leveraging market opportunities.

Pakistan Refinery Limited (PRL), PSO and SOCAR signed an MOU in Baku to establish basic principles for cooperation in Project Management Consultancy support and technical services for refinery modernization.

The agreement also covers new initiatives, including experience and knowledge sharing in feasibility studies, scope definition, technical advisory matters, risk assessment, and mitigation, as well as procurement and contracting support.

A Letter of Acknowledgment was signed today in Baku, Azerbaijan, regarding the SPA signed between PSO and SOCAR under the G-to-G arrangement on December 26, 2024.
