AREA chairman: Rooftop solar panel use to expand soon

The use of rooftop solar panels in Azerbaijan will expand significantly in the near future, Javid Abdullayev, Chairman of the Azerbaijan Renewable Energy Agency (AREA), told Report.

Abdullayev noted that mechanisms for rooftop solar are already in place: "The legal framework exists. A regulatory document titled Rules for Supporting Active Consumers has been approved. In the liberated territories, several large active consumers have already connected to the grid. Just a few days ago, we held broad discussions on these issues once again."

He emphasized that conditions are highly favorable for small and medium businesses: "They benefit from special exemptions for imported panels and related equipment. We know the scale of these exemptions, and they involve considerable capacity. I believe that very soon we will see statistical data showing intensified use of rooftop solar in private homes, certain business structures, commercial facilities, and agricultural regions."
