Ministry of Ecology holds event on combating plastic pollution

The Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry of Azerbaijan organized an event titled "Combating Plastic Pollution: Promoting Liveable Cities and a Circular Economy" as part of the 13th session of the United Nations World Urban Forum (WUF13), Report informs, citing the ministry.

The event featured speeches by Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Vugar Karimov, Chair of the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee on a New Plastics Treaty Julio Cordano via video address, Co-Chair of the Nizami Ganjavi International Center Ismail Serageldin, MP and UN Climate Change High-Level Champion for COP29 Nigar Arpadarai, and Andre Dzikus, Chief of the Urban Basic Services Section at UN-Habitat.

Representatives of Türkiye's Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, the UN Environment Programme (UNEP), the UN Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), Azerbaijan's Economy Ministry and Tamiz Shahar OJSC took part in the panel discussions.
