Southern Azerbaijani activist: Iran is trying hard to weaken Azerbaijan

Today, the most important political trend in Iran is the process initiated by non-Persian nations, Chingiz Goyturk, a Southern Azerbaijani activist living in Finland, told journalists, Report informs.

According to him, although protests have partially decreased in the country, national movements continue:

“It is these national movements that are the main factor causing Iran's unrest. The reason for Iran's unequivocal attitude towards our country is the existence of 40 million Azerbaijani Turks living there. They were massacred many times, but they did not retreat from their struggle. Iran is afraid of the independence of the Azerbaijani state and its increasing power in the world. Azerbaijan attracted the world’s attention, especially with the projects implemented after the 44-day Patriotic War. This has led to Iran becoming less important. That is why it is trying to block these projects. For this purpose, Iran is trying to cause provocations through the terrorist centers it has established inside Azerbaijan.”
