UNESCAP assessment puts Azerbaijan among leading countries on paperless trade

Consultations on cross-border paperless trade will be organized by the State Customs Committee, the Center for Economic Reforms Analysis and Communication (CERAC), and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP).

UNESCAP National Coordinator Vusal Gasimli said that Azerbaijan was one of the first countries in the Asia-Pacific region to join the Framework Agreement on Borderless Paper Trade, Report informs.

"Within this context, legal and technical preparations for cross-border paperless trade in Azerbaijan will be discussed. These consultations will be held in accordance with the UN project `Transport and trade relations during the pandemic’. Representatives of all relevant government agencies and UNESCAP will participate in the consultations. The main purpose is to discuss the assessment document and recommendations on paperless trade, as well as the initial action plan. According to the previous UNESCAP assessments, Azerbaijan is one of the leading countries in Asia and the Pacific in cross-border paperless trade."
