Baku, Ankara consider free trade agreement

Azerbaijan and Türkiye are discussing the prospect of signing a free trade agreement, Azerbaijan's First Deputy Minister of Economy Elnur Aliyev said at the 6th Elected General Assembly of the Public Association "Turkish-Azerbaijani Businessmen and Industrialists" (TUIB) in Baku, Report informs.
He noted that data on the economic consequences of the agreement are currently being exchanged and the possibility of extending the preferential regime to products manufactured in the liberated territories is being considered.
The deputy minister emphasized that Türkiye is Azerbaijan's second most important trading partner: "Last year, the value of our trade turnover amounted to $6.1 billion, and in January-April of this year - about $2 billion."
As part of the current preferential agreement, it is planned to expand the list of preferential goods, the deputy minister added.
