Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan plan to hold the 14th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Cooperation on June 20 in Baku, Report informs.
The III Interregional Forum is also planned for the same day, within the framework of which B2B meetings will also be held. The key topics of the forum include a discussion of the economic prospects of the regions and opportunities for developing partnerships. The co-chairs of the Intergovernmental Commission on Cooperation are Minister of Economy of Azerbaijan Mikayil Jabbarov and Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan Laziz Kudratov.
On June 10, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, receiving Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Ali Asadov in Tashkent, emphasized the importance of continuing close practical cooperation between the governments of the two countries in order to monitor the implementation of agreements and generate new initiatives for the upcoming summit at the highest level. In this context, the need to ensure high efficiency of the planned next meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Cooperation and the Forum of Regions of the two countries was indicated. The previous, 13th, meeting of the intergovernmental commission was held on July 10, 2024, in Bukhara (Uzbekistan).
The 1st Interregional Forum Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan was held in February 2023 in Tashkent, the 2nd forum - in May 2024 in Guba.
Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan are implementing joint projects worth over $2.2 billion. According to the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan, trade turnover between the countries in January-April 2025 amounted to $170.25 million (an increase of 3.3 times year-on-year).
