Azerbaijan's pharmaceutical spending rises nearly 22%

In January–August 2026, consumers in Azerbaijan purchased pharmaceutical products and medical supplies worth just under 1.213 billion manats (just over $713.5 million) through the retail trade network.

According to Report, citing the country's State Statistical Committee, this figure is 21.6% higher compared to the first eight months of 2025.

During the same period, 2.7% of total consumer spending was directed toward the purchase of pharmaceutical products and medical supplies.

Overall, retail trade turnover in Azerbaijan reached 44.3 billion manats (approximately $26.06 billion) in January–August 2026, including 24.1 billion manats (approximately $14.2 billion) in food products, beverages, and tobacco, and 20.2 billion manats (approximately $11.9 billion) in non‑food items, marking increases of 3.9%, 1.4%, and 6.9%, respectively, year‑on‑year.
