Azerbaijan's electric vehicle imports fall by 52% in January-May

Azerbaijan imported 468 electric vehicles worth $12.35 million in January-May 2026, Report informs, citing the State Statistics Committee.

This is 52% less in value terms and 39% less in quantity than in the same period last year.

During the reporting period, Azerbaijan purchased 161 electric vehicles worth $3.3 million from China, down 65% in value and 53% in quantity from a year earlier.

Imports from the United Kingdom totaled seven electric vehicles worth $3 million, up 45% in value and 40% in quantity. Azerbaijan also imported 193 electric vehicles worth $3 million from the United States, down 40% in value and 30% in quantity, and 54 electric vehicles worth $2.2 million from Germany, down 70% in value and 43% in quantity.

In addition, Azerbaijan purchased 27 electric vehicles worth $317,000 from Mexico, four times more in value and seven times more in quantity than a year earlier.

For the first time in the past 16 years, Azerbaijan also imported an electric vehicle from Poland, with one unit worth $36,400 supplied this year.
