Vahid Hajiyev: Karabakh becoming new center of investments in agricultural sector

Karabakh is becoming a new center for investments in "green energy" and the agricultural sector, Vahid Hajiyev, the President's Special Representative in Jabrayil, Gubadli, and Zangilan districts, told Report.

"There are companies showing interest in investments across sufficiently large and important areas in the liberated territories. They are presenting quite significant projects, mostly in agriculture, tourism, logistics, and 'green energy.' We have particularly interesting projects in the agricultural sector. As you know, the Angus livestock farm already exists in Zangilan, with a target of keeping 10,000 head of cattle. On the other hand, quite significant work is being carried out in horticulture, and the establishment of agroparks and greenhouses is planned for the coming year," he noted.

In addition, according to the special representative, the use of alternative energy potential in Karabakh is also being expanded: "As you know, the President declared the Karabakh and East Zangazur economic regions a green energy zone. For this reason, quite significant projects related to the production of 'green energy' are being implemented. Currently, we use solar panels in smart villages. They are installed in administrative buildings, schools, and kindergartens. Since the number of sunny days in the region is quite high, foreign investors are also showing interest in this. Currently, a 240-megawatt Solar Power Plant is being constructed in the Jabrayil district. In addition, a project on utilizing solar energy potential is being implemented in the Fuzuli district."

"We also make quite active use of water, and Hydroelectric Power Plants already exist. Stations with a capacity of nearly 50 megawatts are operating in the Zangilan district. This shows that alternative energy sources are being utilized quite extensively in our region. This will contribute both to meeting domestic demand and to exports," Hajiyev added.

The special representative also added that a large portion of the Horadiz-Aghband automobile and railway projects has been completed: "Both projects are nearing completion. The construction of our border checkpoint with Iran and the bridge is also about to be finalized, and this will make a quite significant contribution to the development of the liberated territories. Both logistics companies are starting to operate here, and quite substantial work is being carried out in other sectors as well."
