CICA Sec.-Gen. praises Azerbaijan's initiative to hold conference on circular green tourism

The Conference on Circular Green Tourism is a timely and valuable initiative of the Azerbaijan Chairmanship, Kairat Sarybay, Secretary-General of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA), said at the conference "Circular Green Tourism in CICA Countries" in Baku, Report informs.

Sarybay thanked the Azerbaijan Chairmanship for its consistent leadership and strong support in developing tourism as an applied area of ​​cooperation within the CICA framework.

"The Conference on Circular Green Tourism is a timely and important initiative of the Azerbaijan Chairmanship. It demonstrates a clear recognition that the prospects for tourism in Asia will increasingly be determined by the willingness of our countries to transform tourist destinations into platforms for sustainable development, local practices into shared values, cultural heritage into intercultural dialogue, and tourism cooperation into a tool for confidence-building," the Secretary-General emphasized.

Sarybay noted that Azerbaijan's CICA Chairmanship has placed connectivity, digitalization, and sustainable growth at the center of its strategy under the slogan "Stronger CICA: Connectivity, Digitalization and Sustainable Growth in Asia."

"This vision is being realized through specific initiatives in the areas of transport, logistics, finance, digital technologies, media, youth participation, environmental cooperation, and tourism. In this context, the Circular Green Tourism in CICA Countries project is a significant component of our strategic agenda. It provides a practical platform for promoting sustainable tourism policies, rational use of resources, the development of local value chains, the engagement of local communities, responsible hospitality, and deepening interaction between tourism authorities and stakeholders from CICA member states," Sarybay added.
