The launch of the direct Baku–Shymkent–Baku flight creates major advantages for the development of relations between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan, Beksultan Adilkhanov, Head of the Department of Tourism, External Relations, and Creative Industry of Shymkent, stated during a meeting with tourism operators in the city, according to Report's correspondent in Shymkent.
Adilkhanov mentioned that the opening of the direct flight will give a strong impetus to bilateral ties: "This flight is a great advantage for our relations, and we are very pleased. Shymkent is the largest and also the most historic city in Kazakhstan by territory. The city is developing dynamically, with new tourism facilities being built. Currently, about 170 accommodation centers are operating, and a five-star hotel is planned for construction this year."
He added that the city's tourism infrastructure is improving every year: "On June 19, during City Day, we will inaugurate 'Etnaul.' Shymkent gained the status of a city of republican significance in 2018, coming under direct government administration. Its location is very favorable. Tourists arriving in Shymkent can travel by car to Turkestan or Tashkent, and within 1.5 hours, they can visit our national parks."
