Road to Victory: Chronicle of the 44-Day War

The tag "Road to Victory" brings together news, analysis, historical materials and special reports dedicated to the 44-day war of 2020 between Azerbaijan and Armenia, as well as its outcome — the restoration of the territorial integrity of the Republic of Azerbaijan. In this section, readers will find materials on the course of military operations, key campaigns, the liberation of cities and districts, and the significance of this Victory for the country's history.

The 44-day war began on September 27, 2020, and ended with the signing of a trilateral statement on November 10, 2020, involving the President of Azerbaijan, the Prime Minister of Armenia and the President of Russia. During this period, the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan carried out a series of successful military operations, resulting in the liberation of significant territories that had been under Armenian occupation for nearly thirty years. One of the most symbolic and strategically important events of the war was the liberation of the city of Shusha — the cultural capital of Azerbaijan, holding special historical and spiritual significance for the Azerbaijani people.

Following the signing of the trilateral statement, hostilities ceased, the parties agreed on the exchange of prisoners and the bodies of the fallen, and on unblocking transport and economic links in the region. In the following months and years, additional territories were liberated, ultimately restoring Azerbaijan's sovereignty over its entire territory as recognized by the international community within its borders.

The Victory in the 44-day war became one of the most important events in the modern history of Azerbaijan, putting an end to the decades-long Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict in its previous form. Materials under the tag "Road to Victory" tell the story of the heroism of servicemen killed and wounded during the war, the work of the Armed Forces, the support provided by society to its army, as well as the process of restoring the liberated territories — building infrastructure, returning internally displaced persons to their native lands, and implementing the state's "Great Return" program.

Special attention in the materials is given to the commemoration of dates related to the war and the Victory, including Victory Day on November 8 and the anniversary of the signing of the trilateral statement on November 10, as well as memorial events dedicated to the fallen shehids (martyrs).

Materials collected under this tag include a chronicle of military operations, interviews with war participants and their families, reports from liberated territories, official statements by the country's leadership, analytical articles on the geopolitical consequences of the war for the region, as well as cultural and educational materials dedicated to preserving the memory of the events of 2020.

The "Road to Victory" tag serves as an important source of information for readers interested in the history of modern Azerbaijan, the restoration of the country's territorial integrity, and the process of post-war development of the liberated regions.
