Baku: Architecture, History, Economy, and Culture

Baku (azerb. Bakı) is the capital and largest city of Azerbaijan, as well as the largest economic, cultural, and scientific hub of the Caucasus region. Situated along the sweeping bay of the Caspian Sea on the southern coast of the Absheron Peninsula, the city uniquely combines ancient medieval history with cutting-edge 21st-century architecture.
