Ramin Mammadov: Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan cooperate to promote peace, stability, and combat extremism

Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, bound by a shared historical and cultural heritage, are actively cooperating within the framework of the Organization of Turkic States to promote peace, stability, and counter extremism, Ramin Mammadov, Chairman of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations of Azerbaijan, said during the international conference titled "Maturidism — A Doctrine of Tolerance, Moderation, and Enlightenment", held in Samarkand.

He emphasized that in the face of global challenges and a transforming cultural landscape, promoting ideas of coexistence, tolerance, solidarity, and multiculturalism becomes increasingly important as a foundation for sustainable peace and security.

Mammadov highlighted the significance of initiatives aimed at preserving national and spiritual values, as well as passing down a genuine understanding of Islam and its place in the modern world to future generations.

Speaking about Azerbaijan's contribution to Islamic civilization, he underscored the country's commitment to preserving Islamic values and advancing a number of international initiatives focused on strengthening intercultural and interfaith dialogue. Among these are the Global Forum on Intercultural Dialogue and the Summit of Religious Leaders, both held in Baku.

Mammadov also spoke about the role of the Azerbaijan Institute of Theology, established by presidential decree, stressing its key function in training highly qualified specialists.

He expressed confidence that the conference would serve as a meaningful platform for promoting genuine values, fostering interfaith dialogue, and strengthening global peace and stability.
