Nearly 1,500 clerics serve at mosques across Azerbaijan

Nearly 1,500 clerics currently serve at more than 1,000 Islamic places of worship across Azerbaijan.

The State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations said in response to a request from Report that 343 of them were appointed by the committee following amendments to the Law on Freedom of Religious Belief adopted on February 25, 2022.

Of the appointed clerics, 71 are women who perform religious rites.
