Month of Muharram begins in Azerbaijan

The month of Muharram began in Azerbaijan on Tuesday.

Muharram is the first month of the Hijri lunar calendar and holds profound religious significance for Muslims around the world. It is particularly observed as a time of remembrance for Imam Hussein, the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad, and his companions who were martyred in the Battle of Karbala in 680 CE.

This year, Ashura - the most significant day of Muharram - will be observed on June 25.
