Mohamed Abdelsalam highly appreciates President Ilham Aliyev's attention to legacy of Muslim scholars

Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Elders Mohamed Abdelsalam has highly appreciated Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's attention to the legacy of Muslim scholars, Report informs.

He made the statement at the first international scientific-practical conference dedicated to Azerbaijani thinker and scholar Sheikh Seyid Yahya Bakuvi, held in Baku within the 7th meeting of the Council of Heads of Muslim Religious Boards of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS).

The secretary-general noted that the use of religion to incite conflicts, as well as interfaith and inter-sectarian confrontations, causes serious concern.

"The Muslim Council of Elders attaches particular importance to dialogue. Dialogue in itself is not an end, but represents a path leading to mutual recognition, cooperation, and the establishment of peace. Human values must be brought to the forefront, especially in religious speeches addressed to the youth. Religious and cultural heritage should be presented to new generations in the language of their time," Abdelsalam said.
