Voting in Armenia's parliamentary elections began today at 08:00 local time (GMT+4).
Report informs, citing Armenia's Central Election Commission (CEC), that 2,485,851 people are eligible to vote in the country.
A total of 2,005 polling stations have opened across the country. Voting will end at 20:00. The results of these elections will also determine Armenia's new prime minister.
A total of 18 political forces - two blocs and 16 parties - are participating in the elections. The threshold for entering parliament is set at 4% for parties, 8% for blocs of up to two parties, and 10% for blocs of more than two parties. No voter turnout threshold is required.
The election campaign took place amid significant foreign influence, which experts say mainly came from Russia. The country's relevant authorities have repeatedly recorded attempts by opposition blocs and parties to bribe voters.
According to a survey conducted by the Armenian office of GALLUP International Association, 32.4% of respondents are ready to vote for the Civil Contract Party, led by incumbent Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
