Uzbekistan, South Korea prepared new projects worth $12B

Uzbekistan and South Korea have prepared new projects worth approximately $12 billion, Report informs, citing the Uzbek president's press service.

During his visit to Seoul, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held talks with South Korean President Lee Jae Myung. The two sides discussed the future development and deepening of the Uzbekistan–Korea special strategic partnership.

As a result of the visit, a strategic partnership program worth $8 billion was signed with the Export‑Import Bank of Korea.

Special attention was given to forming an innovation and technology alliance based on advanced Korean technologies and Uzbekistan's resource‑industrial potential. Its activities will focus on high and digital technologies in IT, cybersecurity, medicine, healthcare, and pharmaceuticals.

Currently, more than 700 joint ventures with Korean capital operate in Uzbekistan, with total Korean investments exceeding $8 billion.

The two leaders also agreed to hold the second interregional forum in Samarkand. Cooperation in education and training was highlighted. It was noted that Uzbekistan hosts four branches of South Korean universities and five vocational training centers established with KOICA's assistance.

Additionally, the parties agreed to declare 2027 the Year of Culture and Mutual Exchanges and organize joint cultural and humanitarian events.
